 Dr. Kenerly is an orthopedic surgeon and is dedicated to the evaluation and treatment of conditions related to the musculoskeletal system. The musculoskeletal system includes the bones, joints, ligaments, muscles, tendons, and nerves of the body. Orthopedic surgery typically excludes the brain, spinal cord, skull, and facial bones. The orthopedic surgeon utilizes both surgical and nonsurgical treatment of conditions related to the musculoskeletal system.Dr. Kenerly began his orthopedic surgery practice in Jesup, Georgia in 1988. He graduated from Wayne County High School in June 1974. He earned his BS degree in biochemistry from the University of Georgia in June 1978. After graduating from the Medical College of Georgia School of Medicine in June 1982 with the M. D. degree, he spent one year at The Medical Center in Columbus, Georgia completing his internship. Dr. Kenerly was then accepted to the orthopedic surgery residency program at the Greenville Hospital System and Shriner’s Hospital for Crippled Children in Greenville South Carolina. He finished his residency in 1988 and that year began his practice back in his hometown of Jesup, Georgia. Dr. Kenerly is a Diplomat of the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery and was one of the first orthopedic surgeons in Georgia to take and pass the ABOS recertification exam in 2001. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgery, a member of the Southern Medical Association, Southern Orthopedic Association, Medical Association of Georgia, The Georgia Orthopedic Society, and the Arthroscopy Association of North America. He has a particular interest in conditions related to the shoulder and rotator cuff. Additionally, he has considerable expertise in shoulder and knee arthroscopy and shoulder, hip and knee arthroplasties (total joint replacement). Dr. Kenerly considers himself a student of the musculoskeletal system. He spends hours each week studying and reviewing the latest in the field of orthopedic surgery. Additionally, he attends national and world-wide orthopedic meetings on a regular basis to keep himself current and on the cutting edge of orthopedic surgery. He keeps abreast of the latest techniques and technology that orthopedic surgery has to offer and is pleased to bring this state-of-the-art orthopedic care to his patients. Dr. Kenerly feels blessed to practice medicine in his hometown among the many friends and family members who encouraged him and supported him all his life. He attributes his success to his Christian faith and believes strongly that God is the ultimate healer. |
